Just wanted to make one of those progress posts that I could periodically update.

1	Spanish	Unit 48	6 years experience up through college; highest unit # but one of my worst legacy languages. Very embarrassing.
2	French	Unit 31	6 years + college major; literally majored in this! Only slightly less embarrasing.
3	Welsh	Unit 11	Starting from scratch. Just because. I have very little confidence in making my own sentences, but I somehow remember things.
4	Chinese	Unit 6	Took one semester of this and promptly forgot everything.
★	Japanese	Unit 31	I'm not counting this in the ranking, because I tested out of the entire course all at once before the new content was added.

Cool! i never really liked language classes especially not spanish, but im so impressed by your progress :)

Thanks! Language classes in school can be hit or miss because of the teacher and people around you (hard to be enthusiastic when no one else is), but I’ve always liked learning them :) they’re like a puzzle for me

yeah, my teacher wasn’t that nice and even lost my test and blamed it on me and my mom saying that “I wasn’t organized” when I literally GAVE it to her lol

Lmao, I’ve been there. My art teacher once gave me a 0 on a massive project (bc she didn’t have it in her pile to be graded) and I had to point out that it was hanging in the display case in the hall. At least she apologized and fixed my grade, though

I started learning Greek on Duo about a month ago and I have really loved it even though I haven't hit the speaking lessons yet and those are always the hardest for me!

Oh Greek sounds really neat! Have you always been interested in it?

I don’t think Welsh has any speaking because it’s a small course, but I wish it did.

I went to Athens when I was in high school and I was obsessed with how much it sounded like English but used an entirely different letter set? But really I was reading this book about how Pandora's Box could actually have been translated to "Pandora's Jar" and how the difference in greek is just one letter and I just started thinking about how powerful that was and also I just like how the letters look all squiggly.

I guess I didn't know that some of them don't have speaking - I hope they can get them soon!

How cool! I've only been to France and Germany in Europe, maybe one day I'll be able to get down to the Mediterranean. And those are totally valid reasons for learning, haha.

Have you gotten the new "path" update yet? I'm on a 367 day streak and the switch from the tree to the path had thrown off everything. I hate it so much that I am looking for something new. But finding a free alternative that has Irish is an impossible task.

I did, it switched me over (mid-session!) a couple months ago. I’m still not happy with it but I’ve gotten used to it, at least. :/
